The Cupcakery Footprint
At first glance our little store may seem kind of quaint but if you look closer, you’ll notice we’ve got it going on:
Tabletops, floors and counters- Were constructed from solid concrete and polished glass, made from renewable limestone.
Counter bases- Were built from salvaged parts of old homes. Look closely and you’ll see window frames, tin ceilings and shutters incorporated everywhere in the store.
Sewing bases- These were saved from the trash heap and restored, most still work.
Our menu board was rescued from a 130 yr. old home in Greenville NC, bulldozed to build East Carolina University.
99% of our packaging is made from corn or sugar and is completely compostable.
The paint on our walls is an eco-friendly, low-VOC paint, as is the stain on our floors.
“Green” isn’t about cool t-shirts and slogans.
It is about making changes that affect the world around you and your future. |

Carolina Cupcakery was created by Dawn Eskins and daughters Kyndall and Lindsey Eskins.
An award-winning graphic designer and accomplished baker, Dawn Eskins is creating scratch-baked, gourmet recipes from classic favorites as well as edgy new recipes like Red Bull and Habanero Chocolate Hottie, to satisfy more “extreme” palates. Other original cupcakes come from Happy Hour, Retro, Kids and Old-fashioned favorites, all available in classic or super-sized cups.
Kyndall Eskins, a public relations major at Campbell University, is heading a Carolina Cupcakery marketing campaign promoting high-quality, scratch-baked food for parties, weddings and corporate events.
Lindsey Eskins, a student at UNC Greensboro, has struggled with wheat allergies all her life. As a baking consultant, she uses her experience to help customers with gluten and other allergies make healthy choices. “Everyday we will have a nice selection of special-needs items, including vegan, low-fat and low-sugar recipes, that diabetics, bariatric patients and health enthusiasts will really appreciate,” said Lindsey Eskins.
“We wanted to create a business that makes people happy by providing a healthy and eco-friendly alternative,” said Dawn Eskins. “These cupcakes are baked the same way your grandmother baked them, with real butter and sugar. But grandmother would never have considered using champagne, jalapeno peppers or energy drinks in the recipe!”
One thing the Carolina Cupcakery team takes seriously is a healthy respect for conservancy. Nearly everything in the store is derived from reclaimed, recycled and eco-friendly sources. They are sponsoring a public recycling program for fluorescent bulbs (which should never go into regular trash). They use eco-conscious cleaning products and even their packaging is made from corn and is completely compostable.
