Wednesday May 15, 2013, Carolina Cupcakery will hold a Grand Opening Party for their new downtown location in the first floor lobby of One Commercial Place, Main Street, Norfolk. The highlight of the event will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record to see how fast the company can serve 1,000 mini cupcakes, one at a time to 1,000 guests.

The event is free and open to the general public to participate. Beginning at 11am, their new location will be open officially. Contestant lines will begin forming around 11:30 am. If all goes well, it should take about 15 minutes to serve everyone. Parking is available along Main street and in the parking deck.

“We’ll be posting Facebook updates as the event progresses, lines will be brisk and no one needs to worry about getting bored while they’re waiting.” says owner Dawn Eskins, “Several, local small businesses will be providing vital services (while they last) such as; chocolate sampling by Royal Chocolate, peanut sampling by Plantation Peanuts of Wakefield, massages by Instinctive Massage and mini manicures by Satin Hands. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided by Seven Cities Southern Cuisine and California Pizza Kitchen (while supplies last).

“Everything has been considered. Contest participants who may be concerned with their diets will find trainers on hand, for support. Volunteer line holders can jump in and save your place if nature calls. Best of all, every cupcake will go to a good home. No one gets left behind.”

The event will be broadcast, streaming live by Talk Fusion Hampton Roads and owner Dawn Eskins will be onsite signing her novel, “Cupcake Confessions”.

This free event gives new and expecting moms, dads and grandparents the opportunity to tour the hospital’s BirthPlace and learn about everything from birthing and breastfeeding to diapers and car seats. Guests can talk with physicians, get educational materials on pregnancy and childbirth and learn valuable tips to help them prepare for their new bundles of joy.

Community vendors will be on hand to display their products and services, and door prizes will be awarded.

Nearly 80,000 babies have started their lives at Chesapeake Regional’s BirthPlace, making it the area’s busiest labor and delivery service including our own Kyndall Eskins who will be on site to give advice about everything from baby showers to weddings.

Norfolk, VA-  Carolina FAB (Food Allergy Bakery) a division of Carolina Cupcakery, held their Grand Opening/Open House on Saturday March 16, 10am-5pm at their Greenbrier location, 1200 N. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.

The new line of allergen-free breakfast items were featured such as doughnuts, muffins and breakfast bars. Nearly 100 visitors toured the new allergen free kitchen.

Owner, Dawn Eskins, veteran of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and Liz Koman, Ph.D. of Food Allergy Associates were on site answering questions about baking for food allergies and meeting new friends. CarolinaFab will be offering specialty baking classes and be available for food allergy meetings.

In addition to their original dessert cupcakes, Carolina FAB sells wheat and nut free doughnuts, muffins and breakfast bars and assorted pastries in their Norfolk and Chesapeake stores. The kitchen has a dedicated air handling system with wheat, tree nuts and artificial colors completely prohibited.
