Norfolk, VA-  Beginning Monday June 10, 2013 Carolina Cupcakery will commence a cupcake baking marathon that gives everyone the opportunity to satisfy any craving imaginable. Their entire aresenal of 250 flavors will be baked and sold over the course of one month, 18 varieties per day.

“Almost every cupcake we create has a story or an inspiration, and many of those involve guest bakers from local celebrities to Girl Scouts,” says owner Dawn Eskins. “We are taking time to tell folks how the cupcakes came to be, and to give everyone a chance to experience them. The entire month will be a marathon for us as bakers, as well as our guests as they; sample old and new flavors, and new products, too. Customers will be able to track cupcakes as they try them and compete for prizes.”

The person who samples the most cupcake flavors will receive a gift certificate for $250 — the total number of flavors we bake, plus an opportunity to create their own signature flavor. Every customer will be able to submit flavor ideas and a winner will be crowned the 250th flavor. As in the past, the winner will receive a trophy filled with frosting.

Additional fifth anniversary events are being planned to thank the community for their support since they helped launch the brand new industry five years ago.

Free birthday cake will be offered at each location on their anniversary date Monday, June 10th. Free samples, showcasing other featured products such as french macarons, breakfast muffins, cake pops and sprouted granola will be offered every day throughout the month.

Carolina Cupcakery’s new birthday program will launch the following week on Monday June 17, which guarantees virtually everyone gets a free cupcake on their birthday.

Additional events, including an attempt to break their own Guinness World Record, will be announced over the coming weeks to celebrate this landmark birthday.

Norfolk, VA-  Carolina Cupcakery, “Hampton Roads’ Original Cupcake Bakery” is making BACON ROSES just in time for Father’s Day.  Customers who come in for a gourmet cupcake can also pickup a rose made with applewood smoked bacon. for $3.49 per stem, or dipped in chocolate for $4.99 each. While supplies last.

Bacon roses gained popularity last Valentine’s Day, when Carolina Cupcakery posted a comment on Facebook and they went viral with 5.000 shares in less than 24 hours. Employees ended up working round the clock to supply the demand even though the store sold out three times.

Bacon roses will be available at all three locations from Thursday morning until Sunday at 5pm, while supplies last. It ise strongly suggested that customers place a preorder to guarantee dad gets one!

Preorders will be accepted 9am-5pm until Friday May 14th by calling 757 351-1548 in order to receive them for Father’s Day gift-giving. Orders may be picked up at either location but since they are not Kosher, all Ghent orders are sealed offsite and stored in a non-Kosher area of the store until pickup.

Owner Dawn Eskins says, “This makes Father’s Day easier, for those who love meat lovers. I’ll admit I’m married to one. We have over 250 cupcake varieties, and he doesn’t like any of them. This year he’ll be thrilled.”

Carolina Cupcakery opened as the area’s first cupcake bakery in 2007. After being featured in Modern Bride magazine and on Extreme Home Makeover, Eskins appeared in two episodes of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. 

In 2012, Eskins published a book about her experiences entitled “Cupcake Confessions”  and has been a featured speaker at Women’s Shows from Virginia To South Carolina.

Beginning Friday June 7th at noon, we will be selling our famous cupcakes center stage at Waterside Festival Park. Due to the weather, all kids activities have been moved indoors and we are there for you!

There will be pirate adventures, kids face painting and more! Not to mention clean bathrooms and air conditioning.

Wednesday May 15, 2013, Carolina Cupcakery will hold a Grand Opening Party for their new downtown location in the first floor lobby of One Commercial Place, Main Street, Norfolk. The highlight of the event will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record to see how fast the company can serve 1,000 mini cupcakes, one at a time to 1,000 guests.

The event is free and open to the general public to participate. Beginning at 11am, their new location will be open officially. Contestant lines will begin forming around 11:30 am. If all goes well, it should take about 15 minutes to serve everyone. Parking is available along Main street and in the parking deck.

“We’ll be posting Facebook updates as the event progresses, lines will be brisk and no one needs to worry about getting bored while they’re waiting.” says owner Dawn Eskins, “Several, local small businesses will be providing vital services (while they last) such as; chocolate sampling by Royal Chocolate, peanut sampling by Plantation Peanuts of Wakefield, massages by Instinctive Massage and mini manicures by Satin Hands. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided by Seven Cities Southern Cuisine and California Pizza Kitchen (while supplies last).

“Everything has been considered. Contest participants who may be concerned with their diets will find trainers on hand, for support. Volunteer line holders can jump in and save your place if nature calls. Best of all, every cupcake will go to a good home. No one gets left behind.”

The event will be broadcast, streaming live by Talk Fusion Hampton Roads and owner Dawn Eskins will be onsite signing her novel, “Cupcake Confessions”.

Petting Zoo and Pony Rides

This free event gives new and expecting moms, dads and grandparents the opportunity to tour the hospital’s BirthPlace and learn about everything from birthing and breastfeeding to diapers and car seats. Guests can talk with physicians, get educational materials on pregnancy and childbirth and learn valuable tips to help them prepare for their new bundles of joy.

Community vendors will be on hand to display their products and services, and door prizes will be awarded.

Nearly 80,000 babies have started their lives at Chesapeake Regional’s BirthPlace, making it the area’s busiest labor and delivery service including our own Kyndall Eskins who will be on site to give advice about everything from baby showers to weddings.
